"Andy Chen ’09, originally from Los Angeles , California , is concentrating in Sociology with a certificate in East Asian Studies. Chen’s most notable contribution to campus has been as the founder and co-manager of the Student Design Agency , filling a much-needed niche for student graphic design. The agency has been wildly successful in its first two years under Chen’s management and even sponsored a national design conference on campus this spring. In addition, Chen helped Rockefeller College open the new 4B Holder Media Center . However, not all of Chen’s design work goes through the agency, as he often contributes pro bono to good causes around campus, such as the recent “Own What You Think” campaign encouraging students to take a stand behind what they say or think. Class of 2010 president Connor Diemand-Yauman shares that Chen is “compassionate about what he does and he helps people for all the right reasons. He lends himself and his services without question…If the true spirit of Princeton is anything like Andy Chen, then this is an excellent university indeed.” Chen also serves the campus through spiritual means. After visiting India this past summer on the Martin Dale Summer Award, Chen became a certified yoga instructor and now teaches free yoga classes at Whitman College . Chen is also a Princetonian Idol winner and was also a performer and original organizer of the Butler Open Mic Nights. "
